These terms apply to OneLet on the Apple App Store and on Google Play. Where the two stores differ, the difference is stated.
By using OneLet you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
OneLet is a word puzzle game for entertainment, available in ten languages. It is not an educational product, a dictionary, a language test, or a reference work of any kind, and it should not be relied on as one.
This one deserves its own section, because it is the thing people write to us about most.
OneLet builds its puzzles from open, licensed dictionaries, filtered by hand for each language. Two things follow from that, and both are normal:
We curate the lists continuously and we remove entries that native speakers tell us are not real words. A word being accepted or rejected by the game is a statement about our word list, not a statement about the language, and never a judgement about you. If something looks wrong, please write to us — those messages are how the lists get better.
Offensive words are excluded from the game entirely, and sensitive words — religious, medical, or violent terms that also have ordinary meanings — are never used as a puzzle's first or last word. If something slipped through, tell us and it will be removed.
Use the app for its intended purpose. Do not attempt to modify, decompile or tamper with it, and do not use it in any way that breaks the law where you are.
OneLet is free to play. Everything in the game can be reached without paying. Optional purchases are available:
The contents of every purchase are shown in the app before you buy. Payment is taken by the store you installed the app from — Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — and that store's terms apply to the transaction. Prices are set per region by the store and shown to you before you confirm. A purchase made on one store cannot be restored on the other.
Reinstalled the app or changed device? Use Restore purchases in Settings: Remove Ads and an active Summit Pass come back, and you will not pay twice. Gold and tools you have already received are part of your game progress and come back with your iCloud or Google Play Games backup (see section 9).
Refunds are handled by the store, not by us. We cannot issue one. On iOS request it at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android see Google Play's refund page.
The Summit Pass is an optional auto-renewing subscription. While it is active, every day you get a daily pack: 250 gold, three tools (a Lightning, a Compass and a Spark) and a gift box whose contents follow the fixed weekly schedule below — in total 1,750 gold, 21 tools and 7 gift boxes a week. Nothing in the Summit Pass is random: you always know in advance what each day brings. The Summit Pass does not remove advertising; that is the separate Remove Ads purchase.
| Monday | 50 gold |
| Tuesday | 2 Compasses |
| Wednesday | 50 gold |
| Thursday | 2 Lightnings |
| Friday | 50 gold |
| Saturday | 1 Compass + 1 Lightning |
| Sunday | 1 Spark |
The app is supported by advertising from Google's network: optional rewarded videos, a banner from level 6 (never on the store or purchase screens), and interstitial ads between levels from level 8 — never during a puzzle. Rewarded videos are always your choice; no level is locked behind an ad, and the game can be completed without watching one. We do not choose the individual ads and are not responsible for their content; ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience. See the Privacy Policy for what data those ads involve.
Gold, tools and other in-game items have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred between accounts. They exist only inside the game.
No paid random items. Everything you can buy — with money or with gold — has fixed, stated contents. Some free rewards vary: the daily wheel and the gift boxes earned by playing or by watching an optional rewarded video can give different amounts of gold or tools. These can never be bought, with money or with gold.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own. The game's code, artwork, landscapes, music, sounds and design remain ours. The landscapes are generated by the app itself; the game contains no photographs. Word lists, definitions and other licensed sources are credited on the Credits page.
Your progress, gold and tools are stored on your device and, if backup is available, in your own account: iCloud on iOS, Google Play Games saved games and Android backup on Android. We never have a copy. If you delete the app without a backup, reset the device, or a device fails, the data may be lost and we cannot recover it. Remove Ads and the Summit Pass are recorded by the store and come back with Restore purchases.
We may add, change or remove features, levels or languages, and we may stop supporting older operating systems. We try not to break anything you have earned, but we cannot promise the app will always be available or unchanged.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of every incorrect word.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost progress. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you breach these terms.
If these terms change we update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
If you downloaded OneLet from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
