How the game works

You start with one word and have to reach the target word shown above it. Press and hold a letter on the round keyboard, drag your finger onto the letter in your word you want to change, and release.

"That is a real word — why was it rejected?"

This is the question we get most, and often you are right.

The game uses open dictionaries filtered by hand. No word list is complete, so real words do go missing — especially rare, regional or technical ones. When a speaker tells us a word is missing, we add it.

Please write to us with the exact word. That single message is the fastest way it gets fixed, and it fixes it for everyone.

"This is not a word — why did the game accept it?"

The reverse happens too: dictionaries contain entries most people never use. Tell us which word and it will be removed. A word being in the game is a statement about our list, not about the language.

I am stuck on a level

Every level can be solved, and the game watches your path: if a move would leave the target unreachable — for example because you cannot step back onto a word you have already used — the game tells you and takes that move back, so you can try another way.

In the first chapters you can take as many steps as you like. Later, when you run out of moves, the ladder breaks and the level simply starts again. Nothing is lost, there are no lives, and there is no waiting.

If you want help, the tools around the keyboard offer it. They unlock one by one as you play:

Tools you own are used first; otherwise a tool costs gold, which you earn by playing.

I lost my progress

Progress is stored on your device, and a copy is kept in your own account if backup is available: in iCloud on iPhone and iPad, and in Google Play Games saved games (and Android backup) on Android. We have no server and no copy. On a new device signed in to the same account, the progress comes back. Without a backup, deleting the app or resetting the device loses it and we cannot restore it. We are sorry; that is the cost of not collecting your data.

Your purchases are recorded by the store. Use Settings → Restore purchases with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with: ad removal and an active Summit Pass come back that way.

I paid but still see ads

Open Settings → Restore purchases. If it still does not work, write to us with the Apple ID or Google account email used for the purchase and we will help you chase it with the store. Do not buy it a second time.

Ads

Rewarded videos play only when you tap a button asking for one. From level 6 a banner can appear at the bottom of the screen (never on the store or purchase screens), and from level 8 an interstitial ad can appear between levels — never during a puzzle. No level requires watching an ad. The ad-free purchase removes the banner and interstitial ads.

Notifications

The game can remind you, at most once a day and only during daytime hours, that the daily puzzle is ready. These reminders are scheduled by your own device — nothing is sent from a server. Turn them off any time in iOS Settings or Android Settings → Apps → OneLet → Notifications, or decline the request when the game asks.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete your data starts the game over: it erases your level progress and stars, any half-finished level and the tutorials, on this device and in your backup copy. Your gold, tools, settings and purchases are deliberately kept, so nothing you earned or paid for is lost.

Still stuck? Write to us. Tell us your device, the iOS or Android version, the game language, and — if it is about a word — the exact word and the level. We read every message.
